American Idol is an American singing competition airing on Fox. It debuted on June 11, 2002, and has since become the most popular show on American television. The program seeks to discover the best singer in the country through a series of nationwide auditions. The American public decides the outcomes of the later stages through phone voting. The judges give critiques of the contestants' performances.

Melinda Doolittle (born October 6, 1977) is an American singer who finished as the third place finalist on Season 6 of American Idol. Prior to her appearance on American Idol, Doolittle worked as a professional back-up singer for, among others, Michael McDonald, Kirk Franklin, Aaron Neville, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Alabama, Jonny Lang, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, and Anointed.
Simon Cowell (born October 7, 1959) is an English record executive, television producer, and entrepreneur who is best known in both the UK and the United States as a talent judge on TV shows such as Pop Idol, American Idol, Britain's Got Talent, and The X-Factor. He also owns the televison production and music publishing house Syco. He left American Idol as judge after Season 9.
Trent Harmon (born October 8, 1990) is an American singer from Amory, Mississippi who won Season 15 of American Idol. Trent first became interested in music at age 5 when his mother taught him to sing the classic hymn "Amazing Grace". He went on to perform in various musicals throughout high school and college. He was also active in worship services while in college. Trent even tried out for The Voice.

Shannon Magrane (born October 21, 1995) is an American singer from Tampa, Florida who finished 11th on season 11 of American Idol. She wowed the judges at her audition in Savannah, Georgia and progressed through the competition, making it to the top 25. She became a part of the top 13 on March 1, 2012. Magrane was eliminated on March 15, 2012, finishing in 11th place. She is currently a junior at Howard W. Blake High School in Tampa, Florida.
