Amber Nicole Holcomb (born March 17, 1994) is an American singer from Houston, Texas who finished in 4th place on season 12 of American Idol.

BackgroundEdit

Amber previously tried out for season 11 of American Idol, but was cut in Las Vegas. She was grouped up with fellow finalist Curtis Finch, Jr., and season 11 finalists Shannon Magrane and Joshua Ledet.

American IdolEdit

During Season 12, Amber auditioned in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and was sent straight to Hollywood. Her audition for season 12 wasn't aired on national TV, so it is unknown on what her audition song was. During Hollywood rounds, her A Capella and Solo performances were never aired as well, but during her group performance she sang "Knock On Wood". She was past on to the Las Vegas rounds and sang "My Funny Valentine" which gave her a spot in the Top 20. During the Top 20, she sang "I Believe in You and Me" which put her through to the Top 10 where she is currently placed. Her victory song for the Top 10 was "I'm Every Women" by Chaka Khan. During the Top 10, Amber performed A Moment Like This, which was an official song released by Kelly Clarkson. The result of her song helped her make it to the Top 9. During the Top 9, Amber performed "She's Leaving Home" from the Lennon-McCartney songbook. The result of her song put her in the bottom three, but helped her make it to the Top 8. During "Music of The Motor City", Amber took on the Stevie Wonder song "Lately". Her performance of that song resulted in her making the top 7 and avoiding the bottom 3. During Rock Week, Amber took on the Heart hit, "What About Love", which earned her a spot in the top 6. She managed to make it to the top 5 with her versions of "I Say a Little Prayer" by Dionne Warwick and "Love On Top" by Beyonce despite being in the bottom 2 with Lazaro Arbos. Her renditions of "Without You" by Badfinger(covered by Harry Niellson in 1971 and Mariah Carey in 1994) and "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life" by the great Barbra Streisand earned her a spot in the top 4. For top 4, Amber chose "The Power of Love" by Celine Dion and her "one-hit wonder" song was "MacArthur Park" by Richard Harris, which later became a top 10 hit for Donna Summer in 1978. Despite being in the bottom 2 with Candice Glover, Amber and everyone else was safe due to it being a non-elimination week. During the second week of the Top 4, Amber sang "Just Give Me a Reason" by Pink feat. Nate Ruess and "My Funny Valentine" by Mitzi Green, which she had previously performed during the Las Vegas rounds. She also sang "Wings" by Little Mix with the other members of the Top 4. On May 2, 2013, Amber was eliminated due to receiving the lowest amount of votes(the votes from last week carried over). She finished 4th out of all.

Post IdolEdit

Amber was a part of the American Idols Live tour, which kicked off on July 19, 2013 in Kent, Washington and ended on August 31, 2013 in Nashville. She and Burnell Taylor got to sing a duet together during the tour. She even got a chance to sing with up-&-coming British singer Emeli Sande at the Idol finale on May 16, 2013.

Burnell announced on Twitter on November 17, 2013 that he and Amber were going to be working on a Christmas song together, but nothing came of it. She will be a part of Idol's final season.

Personal LifeEdit

In an interview with E! Online after his elimination, fellow contestant Burnell Taylor admitted that he and Amber were dating, but it was proven to be untrue when on August 4, 2013 Amber announced on her Facebook page that she was expecting a child with her boyfriend Lamar Denson. She gave birth to a baby girl on February 14, 2014.

Besides Burnell, one of Amber's closest friends on the show is Lazaro Arbos. She recently posted a Vine video of the two of them having fun together and singing a bit of the Beyonce song "Drunk in Love".
