Alex Preston Philbrick, known professionally as Alex Preston (born May 6, 1993) was a contestant on Season 13 of American Idol.
Audition[]
Alex auditioned in Salt Lake City. He sang an original song called "Fairytales". All three judges voted "yes", sending him to the next round.
Hollywood Round[]
Alex was shown in the first part of Hollywood Week, in the same Group of Ten as Sydney Arterbridge, Jade Lathan, Jesse Roach and Bryan Watt. He sang "Scream and Shout" by Will.i.am and Britney Spears. He advanced along with Jesse. For his final solo performance, he sang his original song "Fairytales" again. During the Final Judgment, the judges told him he did enough to become a Top 30 finalist.
Top 30[]
Alex was chosen by the judges to sing during Rush Week. He sang "Volcano" by Damien Rice. Afterwards, it was revealed that he received enough votes to become a Top 13 finalist.

Alex sang "A Beautiful Mess" by Jason Mraz. He received enough votes to be "safe" another for the week.
Top 12[]
Alex sang "I Don't Wanna Be" by Gavin DeGraw. He received enough votes to be "safe" for another week.
Top 11[]
Alex sang "Falling Slowly" by Glen Hansard. He received enough votes to be "safe" for another week.
